GeoIQ Mobile App for Search and Rescue

GeoIQ Mobile App for Search and Rescue

GeoIQ (a web-based location analysis platform) commissioned us to design this mobile app for use by US-based Search and Rescue personnel. The app allows for digital maps to be shared across disaster response teams and for team members to share location-specific information in real-time.

While the app is live, it is not available for public use.

My Role

My Role by Design Phase

Concepting

Our Sketch of How SAR Teams Communicate

Search and Rescue teams have very specific needs, which we researched and used to build user profiles.

Design

Snippet from the Specification Document

We delivered highly-detailed specifications and collaborated directly with visual design (CLEVER°FRANKE) and development teams.

Prototyping

GeoIQ Prototype in Landscape Orientation

The fact that we and our stakeholders were in separate countries made our online prototype (built in Axure) extremely important for communication and feedback.

Results

GeoIQ has been enthusiastic about our work and has built the app for its clients in the US government. More importantly, real Search and Rescue teams have welcomed the app and returned positive feedback. If all goes well, our app may become a widely-adopted part of first responders’ toolkits!
